I didn't say he was a *good* teacher, did I? He was a doddering old fool even when the classes were actually happening, and I only liked the class because I got incredibly lucky with my classmates and that he turned much of the class-time over to disscussion.
(Though considering that I generally like my classmates in humanities-type subjects much more than stem-type classes there might be a bias there; possibly it's as little as "I pick my humanities classes sparingly on the most interesting-sounding subjects, and thereby get small classes of people with common interests" whereas a similarly-small class of engineers it's more bleak camaraderie about stupid math we need to make the quad-copters not crash")
