Wow, cool chapter. EE has excellent dramatic timing for the end of their chapters, and just, wow.
Seriously, though. I have no idea what the dead king's game is here? This seems like such a counterproductive move. Like, he's making the narrative of Heirophant working with him work by planing on his grief over dead dads, and then he kills his not-girlfriend in front of him? And like, pointedly does it 30seconds after she spent like three paragraphs expositing on the precise mechanism of GP's rez effect, and then making sure the kill was cleanly inside the parameters of such to draw out the aspect? You could hardly set up a cleaner happily ever after if you tried.
I have to assume he has a deeper plan here, or like, his fork is dumber than his whole or something. Because seriously. That was such a stupid move.
(To be fair, I though Captain wasn't gonna die because the foreshadowing was too thick, so what do I know?)
